BACK TO THE GARDEN is a tongue-in-cheek retelling of Genesis, attempting to answer the question,

“Why would God put forbidden fruit in the Garden of Eden if God was just going to get ticked off if Adam and Eve ate it?”

Follow Adam and Eve as they get expelled from the Garden, learn to fend for themselves in the Wilderness that lies beyond,

and discover the truth about God’s power—and their own.

"Into the Woods," where the characters in the fairy tales of Grimm, come alive wishing for a better life, first looking out only to their own self-interest, but learning in the end that true happiness comes from a collective caring about others. Slippers, golden eggs, towers, witches, princes, all just amount to a handful of beans without friends. Told in a hilarious book by James Lapine with glorious music and lyrics by the master Stephen Sondheim, we discover that while we may lament our lot, we can do something about it, just remembering “No One Is Alone!”

Set in Tampa, Florida in 1918, the musical (based on true events) follows an American community struggling to unite against an abusive factory owner and collectively form a multi-racial union. When Rafael comes to town to read newspapers for the factory workers, he falls for Teresa, the sister of union organizer Catalino. Romance blossoms, tensions rise, and when Catalino stands up for worker rights, violence erupts.

Production states: "Each workshop day will consist of 3 hours of workshopping, culminating in a one-hour presentation that same day. It is an opportunity to work intimately with the production team to develop the play and present the work as it progresses over the four workshop dates."
